Quad Citizen Profile

His faith, passion for people and talents lead him to the Quad Cities. The quality of life he experienced while living here convinced him to stay.

Choreographer, teacher, instructor, dancer and performer – 23-year-old Juan Valtierra wears many hats, but his favorite hat to wear is Quad Citizen. His faith, passion for people and talents have taken him to just about every major city in America, but none have compared to the time he has spent in the Quad Cities.

“The Quad Cities community members motivate me and there’s great energy here. I’ve been to New York, Las Angeles and Chicago and nothing feels like home more than the Quad Cities.” -Juan Valtierra

Juan attended 4th grade through high school in the Quad Cities then went off to college. While away he found a passion for dance and returned to the Quad Cities to start teaching classes and performing at local elementary schools.

“Teaching dance classes at The Center and through Re-FL3X has helped me understand just how unique the Quad Cities community is. We are all different but can come together, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, etc. The quality of life the Quad Cities offers is nothing short of unique.” – Juan Valtierra

…so unique that Juan decided to stay.

What does the Quad Cities community mean to you?

It means everything. I always say that more people should move to the Quad Cities. It’s the right choice, the right place and has the right people to get you motivated and moving. What we have here in the Quad Cities is amazing. We should really take a second and appreciate the level of community we are surrounded by - it’s something you will never be able to get in a big city.
